Welcome to St. Helena Catholic School Program

St. Helena Catholic School offers a high caliber education that affords middle school students the opportunity to excel in scholarship, leadership, personal responsibility, and community service. Our comprehensive program is designed to prepare students for the rigors of high school – academically, socially, and spiritually  – AND beyond.

SHCS promotes a strong academic tradition of critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and social responsibility.

Building on traditional teaching methods, that builds academic skill through self-discipline, we offer:

  • Tech-integrated Classrooms
  • STEAM Projects that help students apply learned knowledge
  • A Vibrant Music Program
  • An Emerging Garden to Table Culinary Arts Elective

The middle school experience at SHCS includes new block scheduling, where students change classrooms throughout the day. This approach introduces students to a high-school-style schedule, and helps them grow in personal responsibility. Students have blocks:

  • Integrated Literature, Writing, History
  • Discussion Seminar

  • Saxon General Math, Pre-algebra, and Algebra
  • Holt Earth, Life, or Physical Science
  • STEM Projects, Science Fair

  • Technology and Logic
  • Physical Education and Health
  • Music: Voice and instrument

Our  middle school students, grades 5 – 8, enjoy small classes where they receive individualized instruction. In this setting, teachers are better able to identify areas that need improvement, as well as supporting areas of talent and strength. This attention is very valuable at this stage of their development, providing students with a firm foundation that will prepare them for challenging high school classes and social environment.

In the middle school years, children are developing into young adults and, as therefore, face many questions about the world around them and about themselves: Who am I? Am I likeable? What will I become?

At this critical time in their social, emotional, and faith development they are also inundated with social media, movies, and music which introduces complex current topics – that may or may not correspond with your family’s values.

At SHCS we strive to support you, as the first educator of your children, and teach Christian values that put God first, promotes the family, and respects human life and dignity.  As we are teaching reading, writing, math, and Science…. we are also teaching things like patience, kindness, forgiveness, and self- control.
